Project

A Flexible, Multi-Feedstock, Multi-Product System

The BIOVAL concept is based on an integrated cascade/parallel biorefinery scheme, maximizing energy and mass efficiency to valorize waste streams into valuable products.

Feedstock strategy (Multi-Feedstock)

Biomass Wastes

Organic residues from digestate and agro-industrial sources (agriculture, husbandry).

Carbon Sources

Industrial CO2 emissions, including the CO2 fraction from biogas.

Core technologies

Produces bio-H2 and SOCA (acetate-rich stream).

Uses SCCA and CO2 to yield Algal Oil (Heterotrophic) and Algal Oil + Pigments/Antioxidants (Mixotrophic).

Converts CO2 and H2 into Isopropanol (IPA) also allwoing biogas upgrading.

An optimised catalytic hydrogenation converts Algal Oil into advanced Algal HVO.

Circular economy focus

Zero Carbon Emissions

Zero Waste

All in-situ CO2 is recycled for bioproduction HPF and microalgae.

Residual biomass is valorized through Anaerobic Digestion (AD) to produce biogas/CH4, and the digestate is transformed into Humus (fertilizer).
